Shahidul Alam Ratan is an internationally respected cricket development leader with over 25 years of professional experience across international cricket, high-performance programmes, team management, coaching and cricket administration. He is currently the CEO of Capital Kids Cricket in London, where he has led innovative programmes that have transformed grassroots cricket and created opportunities for thousands of young people. An ECB Level 3 Coach, ECB Coach Educator and mentor with Essex Cricket, Ratan has worked across the full spectrum of the game, from grassroots development to elite high-performance environments. He served as a National Cricket Coach for Bangladesh Cricket Board (2001–2006) and later as Under-19 National Coach for Malaysia (2006–2008), participating in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cups in 2004 and 2008. Throughout his career he has mentored numerous international cricketers and development coaches while also leading pioneering global initiatives, including the world’s largest refugee cricket programme in Lebanon and the World Cricket Festival in London. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the game, the Kia Oval was renamed “Shahidul Alam Ratan Oval” for a day, a rare honour celebrating his impact on cricket development, particularly during the pandemic. Ratan also a “Freeman of the City of London” which is a huge honour.
